I currently have 5 Neon Tetra's and I have plans to get another 5 in the future. I was wondering if I could get 5 more in a different type of tetra such as a Black Neon Tetra or would be best to have them all the same??

well most people recommend a shoal of 5-6, so you should be alright with different species, but they won't shoal together if that's what you mean. How big is the tank?

The tank is 26 gallons.

Neons, regular or black, will school together. You could add 5 more of any type tetra without any problem (provided you have the stocking space available). In a tank with no threat, they don't really school anyway though. They'll be all over the tank. The reason fish school in the first place is the old "safer in numbers" thing.

Shoaling fish will often shoal together with other fish that look similar, neons and cardinals for instance. Neons might shoal with black neons as well, but not most others. I personally find a larger group of the same species to look nicer than two smaller groups of different species shoaling together, but it depends on your personal taste. 26 gallons ought to be plenty for ten neon sized tetras depending on your other stocking.
