Hi all, i have a 180g, with 1 4" silver arow, 2 x 7" silver sharks, 2 x 3/4" silver sharks, 1 wild acara, 2 type of geophagus (un sure of species aprox 5") now i put in my 4 geo surinamus and my 3 smaller sharks....2 of the geos hae died, and the other 2 were upside down and almost popped off but put them in another tank and have revived them selves and one of the sharks has died....the rest have cloudy eyes, and are gasping....when i had my large fish (see sig not yet updated) which i sold over a month ago i had a small ammonia spike...my prams are:
PH 7
NitrAte 0
NitrIte 0
Ammonia 0.3

Will that small amount of ammonia be enough to do this to my fish??

Ive been doing a 25% water change every other day to get my prams back to normal, but its just not shifting...what am i doing wrong??

Help thanks

Even though the amount of ammonia may seem small to you, it's not small to the fish. I would do an immediate 35 percent water change. The ammonia is poisoning the blood of the fish.

Personally I would do more and constantly meaning once every day. Also have you still got your fish in there, if you have then feed them 1/3rd less than you usually do.

Ok thanks guys, yes i do have the remainin fish in there and im feeding them less already, ill do more constant water changes, so the ammonia is the cause of all this right??

Yeah do this for a week and see the changes, check everything again all your nitrates, nitrites, ph and ammonia levels and hopefully you should start seeing your fish acting and looking more healthy.
Post back after a week so we can see how they are doing and if there are still problems.
I am not too much of an expert so i hope someone else will give some more advice on this.

Yeah also check if you have got any copper or other un-compatible materials in there and take them out, as even other materials like bogwood you have picked out and put in lately may not be safe for them as there is a procedure of adding stuff and boiling it before placing them in the aquarium.
