50 gallon planted tank
various Rainbows, Congo tetras, and cory's
hooked up to a laptop with a drdaq
AND
http
/www.theshadegate.co.uk >>>>> a live video feed with a networked IP camera
The daq monitors enviroment and logs data to dedicated laptop, the laptop is wired to the rest of my network so I can DDE the data into Access on another machine and from there I can automaticaly monitor live data and generate alerts which can be sent anywhere over the 'net.
The camera is a Veo Observer XT which gives me near tv quality video feed over my LAN, and reasonable quality over WAN, I have the picture settings at max so over WAN it can be quite slow, but one of the nice touches of the camera is the ability to grab a still in real time from the camera and using active desktop I can have a picture on my desktop at work update every few minutes and enjoy my tank all the time.
Next on the list of things to do is to setup some kind of *SQL to display a subset of the readings alongside the video feed on my website.
Why? <grin> Why not! combines two of my favorate wastes of time, who needs software aquarium screensavers when I can have my own tank anywhere I have a network connect.
Hope you have a look and enjoy, if you want to know any specifics on how I set this up just give me a shout from the form on my website.
