What fish would *in your opinions*

Be Safe for Planted Tanks, Thats have a Real personality and feel like individuals.

I'm personally after some fish that have this trait but are off a nice size (not to small)
I have a 3ft tank.

But even if you cant answer my query (I'd be delighted in views on fish you have or know of having real personality

For instance I read a Betta is a real character.

Bettas indeed are, but IMO shouldn't be in community set-ups.
Ram Cichlids are beautiful and full of character. However they won't last long without Soft water. In that case you could try the Bolivian Ram.
You could always try Gouramis. I find that they are very fun.

Of all my fish the ones with the most personality are the loaches. I have clowns, which'll get to big for your 3ft tank, dwarf chain loach which only get to 2" and in shoals look cool swimming about together and form a sort of living mass of fish, and my personal favourite the burmese loach Botia histrionica, which will get to around 6" apparently but I've had mine over 2years and they haven't got over 4" but even at 6" would think they would be OK in a 3 foot tank.

i have 2 angel fish that have lots of personality and they should be ok for a 3 ft tank. they do this little fish shimmy when i watch the tank. kinda like a dog wagging it's tail real hard. i also have a little blue jack dempsey that seems to have a good personality but they might be a little big for your tank and i've heard that they aren't good for plants.

What are the other dimensions of the tank?

Some of the more interesting fish I have kept that would do fine in most planted community tanks are:

Kribenses - Can be difficult to get a pair but are nice fish to have. In my experience they are only aggresive with their own species so a single pair is best (though just because you get a male and female does not mean they will pair up).

Khulie Loaches - Lots of personality but can be a bit hit and miss as to if you will ever actually see them or not. I have had some groups which just vanish into the tank and others which are always out and about.

Angel Fish - I love Angel fish but you really need at least an 18" deep tank for them. Like Kribs they are best kept in a pair.

Whiptail - Very nice fish that should do well in a planted tank. Can be a bit delicate though and is not massivly active.

yes mine is 18inch deep.
I did consider angels lovely fish,
How will they go with Otocinclus tho?

They should be fine. In my experience (which I must admit isn't massive when it comes to angels) they aren't actually very aggresive. They will eat other fish if they cn fit them in their mouths but they generally will leave other fish along if they are big enough to not be seen as food.

You are best off getting a small group of around 5-6 young angels and waiting for two to pair off and removing the rest. They are normally ok in a group until they start getting bigger so even if they get on ok for the first few months dont expect that to last forever.

I have only ever kept 1 pair and that was only for a short time (It was a friends pair and I only kepts them for a coupleof months while he was moving) so if you do decide to go for angels get more information from someone more experienced then me :)

I would most certainly research more.
Just want something that notices I'm alive and that I feed them and I can stroke and hand feed. Like my Koi and goldfish they love it..

with regards to the angel.
If I bought just 2x of them and added them is their a chance they wont pair then??
And will they be okay in a heavily planted tank?
