My old Dragonet that didn't survive the tank move: :(

Yeah i've caught and tried a couple of these little guys with not much luck. They seem fine for a few weeks then just die. They eat the food the rest of the fish get, and pick at rocks, even had a male in with some females and he turned bright red and black like an Empire Gudgeon. Ah well.

I guess it's all the lack of pods in tank issues that occurs with dragonets

ahhh ha! Thanks Seff, i thought there went many! LOL I'll sift through!

I had a mandarin for a while, but when I got red bugs on all my acros I realized that I would either have to get rid of all my SPS, or use interceptor on the whole tank (which kills the pods as well) and get rid of my mandy. In the end I chose to get rid of my mandarin, but hopefully when the pods repopulate I'll get another. They are very hardy fish as long as you can keep them well fed.

heres mine. had it a month now and seems to be doing well. i hand feed it once or twice a day with marine mix and add a bottle of pods every couple of weeks.
anyone know what sex it is?

That's really hard to tell, it's something to do with the dorsal fins?

The male Spotted Mandarins can be distinguished from females by the presence of a elongated spine at the forward edge of the dorsal fin. Which the female lacks.

dont have another to compare it with :( does colour have anything to do with sex? there was a pair that looked like they were mating in the lfs the other week and one of them was really pink compared the other.
