Fish of hte day: Ammocryptocharax elegans

A tetra that behaves like a mud hopper. Weeee what nature will present next week one never knows.

When I first kept those, they were marketed a darter tetras.
I love reduced swimbladder fish that swim like I do - badly.

I hope you've gotten some. They are neat creatures to watch and wonder with.

I'm thinking of it but in truth i don't think i have a suitable aquarium. None of them have a lot of current - the 10s are not really suitable - i have two 65 that have a fair amount of room but the current off the matten filter is so so and the temp is 78 in them. I have a 100 at 76-75 but same sort of thing with current. The 100 i was thinking was best bet overall but i don't really think i'd do them justice.

They also ahve Duringlanis perugiae alas same deal i don't have a suitable aquarium to enjoy them.

Was tempted to get 5 Mikrogeophagus maculicauda but same deal not a suitable aquarium.... say after me NO MORE AQUARIUMS.

I follow orders well... Duringlanus has a wonderful Genus name.

I'm really rigid on the idea you're putting forward - if you don't have or can't have the proper aquarium set up for a fish, you really shouldn't have the fish. I no longer have access to the range of fish you can get via your supplier, but when I did, I passed on quite a few interesting looking fish because I couldn't see how I could run a tank for them. For newcomers if you read this - you can keep some species in inappropriate conditions and they'll stay alive, but why? You won't see anything like their natural behaviour.
