Hi Everyone. This is my first posting so hope it makes sense to someone out there.

I have a Juwel Rio 125 which came with sitting tenants: Two smallish angels 4 penguin tetra, and a phantom tetra called a painted something.

Over time I have added two opaline gauramis a clown loach, a ruby shark, two red eyed tetras and all are well and happy. Trouble is I visited my tropical fish shop two days ago and was assured by the assistant that it would be fine to add a silver(Bala) shark and two rosy barbs. Since then have had other advice that the shark was a big mistake, and the rosys should be in a shoal of at least five!

The shark is being picked on by the penguins some of the time although is not being nipped, and one of the rosys keeps chasing the other. I feel that this tank is at capacity, but now feel that there will be no peace unless I buy a couple more rosys.

Help!!! This hobby is proving more complicated than I anticipated and I worry about my fish!!

All tetra should be kept in groups of atleast 5/6 :) If you take the bala back you could easily bump up all your tetra groups to 6 without being too over stocked :)

Sorry but the Bala Shark grows far to large for a Rio 125, as does the clown loach.

Ruby/Red-Tailed sharks can be aggressive and once it grows up a bit it may start pestering other fish in your tank. Your tank is much to small for a clown loach - they can grow to 14" (some bigger) and like to be in groups of 4+, so they need a much larger tank. Also what colour is your phantom tetra?

Hi. Thanks for your advice. the phantom is whitish with a small pale blue mark at the base of the tail. It has a pinky mark between it's eyes and along it's spine. By the way the Rosys are Barbs, my mistake!
