Hi All,

I am currently feeding my 8 young platies 3 crushed flakes in the morning and 3 at night.

Most of the food gets eaten and then some does fall to the sand.

I watch them as they eat and then after a while it looks like they are staring at me and asking for more????

Then later on i see them hovering over the sand picking the fallen bits of flake on the sand.

Am i feeding them enough??

Thanks,

Dave

most healthy fish always look hungry

what your feeding them seems fine....all food should be gone in 2-3 mins....if its not, your giving them too much....as a general rule, its better to underfeed than overfeed.....excess food just polutes the water

yey.... must be doing it right then

they always clear up any uneaten flakes. after lights out in the tank, i see them move down to sand level and same just before i switch lights on in the morning.

Every flake has dissapeared

what i mean is that its practically imporssible to net out all the uneaten food as its crushed flakes........ but the fish do a good job of scoffiing it all up from the sand.

Ive tried netting the left over food from the sand but end up with lots of sand in my net and buried food... so its better to let them eat it

if you ever need to scoop out excess food, that means your overfeeding/giving them too much.....

as i said previous....all food should be gone in 2-3 mins
