Fish-in Cycle

depends on the fish and how tolerant of higher temps they are. Raise it slowly... a temp or 2 a day. I personally wouldn't go any higher than 84F...
I'd also add an airstone if you don't have one already. Warmer temps decreases oxygen in the water to extra aeration is needed.
If you see any signs that the warmer temps might be causing the fish stress, then bring it back down slowly.

..still on the topic of whether to raise temp, I suppose any members who are species experts on your cichlids/RTS could weigh in about their upper temp tolerance but my thought would be that during any fish-in cycle, the temp should be whatever is ideal and most comfortable for the majority of the fish and should not be pushed for the sake of the bacteria. My thinking is that it only adds another stress to fish, who are already stressed by being in a fish-in cycle of course. And while higher temps will be closer to optimal for the bacteria, temp is not really a huge factor for accelerating their growth all that much anyway.

78-80 degrees is right where you want your temp for the type of Cichlids you have. :good:
