Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to this whole fish keeping thing. I've had my tank set-up for about 2 weeks and everything has gone smoothly so far. However, recently I've noticed a lot of aggression from one fish towards my little female flame dwarf gourami. My first 3 fish were given to my by a friend when he broke his tank by accident while cleaning it, and he didn't know what kind of fish he had. Of the 3 fish he gave me, the one that is currently being aggressive was the only fish without nipped fins. I'm hoping that someone could help me identify these fish for me, or give me some advice for what to do with them.

These are the two unaggressive fish.

This is the aggressive fish. It's the 3rd largest in my tank behind my two golden gouramis.

Sorry for the image quality, my friend had these fish for a year so they still haven't gotten used to me yet.

Thanks

The first one is a Serpae Tetra (one the top), the second one is a Black Skirt Tetra, and I am not sure about the thrid one. But I know that the thrid one is common, so I'm sure someone will be able to name that one.

The aggressive one is a Buenos Aires Tetram the top non agressive is a Serpae Tetra and the bottom non agressive is a Black Skirt Tetra. I do believe those are right, but feel free to look them up. They are all schooling fish and do better in small groups.

Awsome! Thanks for the help everyone. I decided to get some more fish slightly larger than the aggressive fish and sure enough it has stopped being so aggressive.

funny enough the serpae tyetra the one you have that is non aggressive are usually aggressive little buggers that nip fins

I was thinking exactly the same. They would all be far happier and less likely to be aggresive in decent sized shools as well. I would suggest 6 of each of those tetra species.
