went to the lfs today, well actually did the round of local fish shops. the last i came across a apisto. (i'm sure) when i asked about it i was told they were diamond borelli. they have a white/blue almost checkered pattern to the head, and a turcoisbody (probly spelt wrong sorry it's late/earlie) any info would be appreciatated v.nice looking fish!

unfortunately also saw ballon blue rams, really think it's going to far!
dying, mis-shapping, but if it sells wright?

Sounds like Apistogramma borelli, that's the scientific name :) I'm not very familiar with any of the apistos though.

Yeah, I don't care for the balloon rams either, they've just taken an already weak fish and made it even weaker :/

Apistogramma borelli :D

Also saw ballon kisseig goramis, but in another store. luckerly they were sending them back!!! nice to have a trader with an interest in the hobbies future
cant get me any regani tho :(

Fish will look different , some significantly when they are not comfortable , sometimes stripes , spots and bars either vanish or appear depending on the mood .

Anyway The Steel blue apisto very closely resembles the Borelli .Often confused for each other .

Or do an image search on google , type in apistogramma , maybe you'll find a match . :D

Apistos are great fish , I've keep Borellis in the past , not as demanding as other apisto species can be .

only pic a found was saying it was a blue face apisto, no info or true name? help?

any sites i could search through, or books even?

Yes that is Apistogramma "Steel Blue" believed to be a hybrid and you will only ever find Males.

I never was able to find female Borellis either :/

That is a real shame, seems to been a very interesting fish... :-(
is that to prevent breeding in the home, increase sales?
so if bought what would ya treat it as?
oh and what is a good dwarf cichlid colour wise?
