Hi everyone.

Been thinkin of setting up a Fish House at my new Apartment, On the Balcony it has a small room that would normaly as a storage area, It's around the size of a small shed and could easly hold 6X 2FT Tanks,

It's already been fitted with a light system and also has a heat window but I'm gonna get ppl in to sort a eletric supply in there.

Althought it's gonna be 2-3 months before I can set up a Fish House I'm starting the Plans now.

I got alot of decorating to do before I can do the Fish House hehe.

Anyway I can't decide what would be good to breed in the Fish House. I'm gonna be selling the fish on Ebay eventualy,

So far I have thought of one of these.

Bettas
Guppies
Endlers
Mollies
Cichilds
Killifish

I dunno if there would be enough room for Bettas but they would be my first choice.

Any advice?

breed something expensive, then u can make lots of money :)

If you are planning on breeding definitely decide on what kind of fish you would like to breed before you start investing in a lot of equipment (since space and tank size will be highly dependent on what kind of fish you choose). I'd also recommend checking sites like Aquabid.com to do some research on what kind of fish actually have some demand. Also keep in mind that for some species you'll have to set aside a decent amount of money to get quality breeding stock.

Bettas: There is lots of information about breeding these guys on the web. Pet shop bettas generally will not do... most are too old, and do not have the coloration / tail types that are in demand. Definitely research the color strains/ fin types that are in demand (Red Dragons, Black Orchid CTs, Mustard gas, etc). You'll also need a lot of containers for each male produced.

Guppies: These breed like crazy, and because females can store sperm for several months you'll have to keep them separated until they have exhausted their supply if you want to keep strains pure. I have seen extremely nice designer strains go for $90... Expect to pay a decent amount for any strain that will actually be profitable.

Endlers: Same as above, not sure how profitable they are.

Mollies: Sorry don't know enough about them

Cichlids: Too many different species for me to make a broad statement about. Some are easier to breed than others, and some are more in demand than others.

Killifish: From what I understand about killifish breeding...be prepared to own a lot of small tanks and containers. Once again, TONS of different species to choose from here, with different lifespans and spawning habits. There are Annual and non-Annual types...the annuals tend to have a much longer incubation period, and a shorter life span (~1 year vs ~2-3 years for non-annual types).

But will people bother buying them on ebay?...Unless there like one of those half moon tail types etc.Simple and easy and you might be able to make some money, hmm...Kribensis might be a perfect choice for you to breed for the cichlid catagory.Very easy to breed and can be extremely colourful :good:

I want somthing simple and easy to breed.
Bettas are simple and easy.

Actually I wouldn't consider Betta breeding to be simple and easy at all compared to the other fish you've listed. Betta breeding actually takes a fair amount of work in comparison.

I used to breed Bettas and I sold PK's on ebay aswell as CT's and they used to sell like hot cakes.

I had Red & Gold PK's and Green CT's

Another thing to consider is your tap water parameters. For example...lets say you considered Apistogrammas since they are attractive fish that aren't widely available in every pet shop, and don't require a large tank in comparison to some other cichlids. Since these are soft water fish if you have hard / alkaline tap water you'd have to decide how you were going to secure a soft water source.

Dunno
Quite interested on Bettas at moment, theres space for em and I can sell em if I get right pair.
Also endlers and Guppies sell fast too
