When kept in the proper M/F ratio, or singly, pearl gouramis are not aggressive at all.

Either gourami would be fine in this tank....once the OP confirms tap params, as asked above.

I have a group of pearl gouramis. The only aggression I've seen was when one of the females turned out to be a juvenile male. As soon as I returned the late developer to the shop, all was peaceful again.

I would suggest we consider the current fish before suggesting additional species for which there may not be space, or there may be compatibility issues. And the water parameters @Colin_T requested are important to know.

@John oreilly (RILE) can you provide the species and numbers of each?
