When it comes to food there seems to be a fair amount of it about, regarding brands, variety etc.. which is good :good:

Which is leading me to ask out. Have any of you guys ever heard of "Sera" if so..do you recommend it? I came across it this morning. And within choice in the past, I've always sided with Tetra or Hikari

And whilst we're on the subject! What foods do you use? through-out the week. What favors you to that particular brand.

I use King British tropical flake food as the main staple food. I then supplement it with frozen bloodworms (not sure of the brand) and freeze dried daphnia which is made by interpet :)

I only use and recommend New Life Spectrum (specifically the Thera+A formula).

At the very least ditch the Tetra. Hikari is good, but not as good as NLS IME. Try the NLS, you and your fish will be happy you did.

I use TetraMin flake food as the primary food source for my rasboras, cories and danios.

I also use Shrimp sinking tablets for the cories (Wardley).

I am also going to be getting some algae wafers as well.

I am also planning to add some fresh veggies, today cucumbers - maybe some lettuce.

Finally, I give frozen bloodworms (well, defrosted actually) once a week - Saturdays.

I only use and recommend New Life Spectrum (specifically the Thera+A formula).

Are you interested in sharing your reasons for these assertions?

I'm thinking of doing this as they seem to be way too interested in eating my plants. Do I just wash the cucumber and put it in? It's not bad for certain kinds of fish?

I've heard of Sera, they do 'catfish chips' which are algae wafers with added wood. I used to give them to my bristlenose and she loved them, but I don't seem to see the brand often.

Tetra Pro Colour Crisp, Hikari Gold, Nutrafin Max, Tetra Algae Wafers, Prawns, Cucumber, Bloodworm, Grapes.

From what I understand - not a bit. I plan to skin the cucumber, so that any pesticide is removed - and then remove the seeds as well. I don't think there is any issue with any fish and veggies. Either they will eat it, or they won't. The key is to remove the pesticides. I grow my own as well, but the cucumber I have isn't home grown.

Think I'll try that tonight using some home-grown cucumber. Thanks :)

I have used many kinds of foods over the years, and seen and talked to people using even more. The results that can be achieved with NLS exclusively are well beyond what I have seen any other food or fiet achieve. The colors are better, the health is better, even the breeding is better.

I was more interested in why you were recommending the Tetra be ditched.

It is lower quality. There are a lot of high quality brands out there, some much better than others. I would not consider Tetra amoong these. I don't see any reason to use Tetra when there are so many better options out there.

Any data to back that up? Specifically nutritional, I've been tempted to use NLS products for a while now.

The experiences of almost every aquarist who has tried it exclusively for at least a few months back it up.

Their site has a lot of good information. I think he takes a little liberty with a few things he claims, but overall it is dead on. Take a look.

The nutrition is better. The problem is that you won't find much scientific data to backup almost anything in this hobby. So we are left with the experiences that together we can share and evaluate. Check out their site and let me know if you have any questions.
