What types of food do you use for your cichlids. I am thinking about trying New Life Spectrum but do not know much about it so some opinions on different food types would be greatly appreciated.

NLS is garbage imo. As is omega1.

Best thing you can do for your fish is get them some dainichi pellets. Xl-pro is a good staple. I suggest going with ultima personally.
Also, you can't go wrong with good ol' hikari bio-gold.
Besides that, look into some hikari frozen and freeze dried foods.

I feed my africans Hikari and my Firemouths wont touch pellets so they get Wardley Flakes!

Wardley is definatley not a good staple food for anyfish, like Africans. Poor quality food. Why would you want to feed your fish, the bare minnimum they require?

NLS is garbage imo
Why must you continue to bash NLS? Its one thing not believing that its better than your danichi stuff, BUT saying it's crap? No, it isnt. Wardley, and Aquarian are crap brands. They are providing your fish with the bare minnimum, which reflects poorley on the company in my OP.

As is omega1.
How is OmegaOne crap? They have made break throughs in fish food! They are usuing a protien binding formula to hold the food together! Which actually benefits the fish! It's not a Starch bonding formula like almost everyone else uses( i mean, what do your fishes need starches for, and if they do, in that quanitity?)

Nls is overpriced garbage that provides no visible results in growth or coloration. You might as well just use hikari. As gar as starch and ash content are concerned, its all digested and excreted by the fish.there is no point in wasting money on nls. Dainichi is similar priced with better formulas and much better results, and hikari is much cheaper and provides the same results as NLS. Not to mention hikaris and probably always be the forerunner in the food industry.

I know many people who would beg to differ on NLS having no visual results in growth and coloration. I have seen the results first hand( my fish had a big growth spurt and their colors were very rich), and so have many other people. Hikari is a good brand. BUt so is NLS, and Omega One.

In my experience, nls is nothing more then a waste of money. For the same price or less you can get MUCH better results with dainichi. Or you can spend less money and get the same results from hikari.
Unlike yourself, h iave first hand experience with all the above mentioned brands and more and nothing matches the quality of dainichi. And of course, hikari is great too, and will always be a staple.

I give them wadrley because it's the only staple food they will accept, I don't feed my africans wardley as they'll accept pellets no problem. Unless you can find me a good flake that's for cichlids in my area (this is the hard part :p ) it's what they're going to get. I have no idea why but the fremouths WILL NOT eat pellets.

They will eat pellets if that is what you provide them with. Just start feeding pellets, and eventually they will take a liking to them. Right now I feed my labs earth worm flake, sprinula pellets, and freeze dried krill.

I have tried numerous times to feed pellets, they absolutely do not like them. Yes if I starve them for a week then they would eat anything. But, I'm not doing that to my fish. and they would only eat it that one day. Believe me I have tried. I'd much rather just feed my fish all the same food than have to worry about what this tank will eat and what that tank will eat. they don't eat JUST the flakes, I do give them blood worms, krill and frozen brine shrimp so it's not like they only eat the wardley flakes. it seems anything that will just float on the surface they don't want. I have a feeling they're lazy and want the food to be pushed down to them from the HOB.
