Hi guys, I was checking my axolotl pellet carton to see the ingredients and noticed that it went off in October last year, I didn't even know it had an expiration date on it. I then checked my other foods and saw that some of my various tropical fish pellets and flakes also went off last year and one even in 2011. I had assumed that their shelf life would be for years being as to how dry and processed they are.
Are off fish foods less nutritious? Should I throw them out and buy new stuff?
Check your labels and let me know if you're feeding anything off.

I've thrown them all away and gotten replacements today. There were rows and rows of expired fish foods at the several LFS I went to for sale, I told the staff and they sheepishly admitted they didn't know they had best before dates and set about clearing all the bad product. I felt kinda bad for losing them so much stock but also quite like a hero. b-)
