Ive been looking around and there seem to be tons of differnt brands for the same thing... whats the differnce between them? or are flakes just flakes no matter how you look at it?

Read the back of the container for the ingredients, they list them in order of the largest percentage first. If it lists wheat meal & soy meal first, it's not as good as one that lists things like salmon first.

Your not always getting what you pay for with the expensive brands, eg most of them have t,u,v,w,x,u & z to fill them out, but many also have vitamins etc. On the other hand I occasionally buy a supermarket pet brand flake that has krill as its major ingredient without the soybean meal + x, y ,z that I have zilch idea what they are but no vitamins. I also use veggies, frozen bloodworms and the odd live food, basically just like for us a good balanced diet is the key

PS also take note if your fish eat it (try a few times first, they mey take some time to come round)

I have one of the tetra min, and among the first ingredients is fish meal and dried yeast.

Mine has lots of crude protein apperantly... Ive been useing Wardley essentials color premium flakes. This leads me to one more question, do the so called "color" flakes acually make any differnce?

colour addidtives make a difference?, not a clue, according to another fish information (not forum) site that I regulary use, very much so (I dont think they are trying to push a product either as no specific product is ever mentioned)

A friend of mine who keeps fw and reef tanks says sera vipan is the best food available.Something to do with the ingrediants being 100% natural.
I have always used nutrafin, although I cant see why the add yeasts and ash, I get ash in my dogs food , perhaps the people who make pet feeds are allowed to smoke while they make it!

maybe the ash acts as roughage to stop the finsh binding up???

I have lots of diffrent food but i find my fish like the tetra brand foods most,

I have tetra prima,

tetra pro,

and tetra doramin
