You want to be careful with the salt if you've got a cory in there.

I have other, bigger tanks for him... and he's about 5 inches long at the moment.. I have bigger fish in there with him.... and I've had him for about a year now.. I do put a safe amount of salt in the tank for all the fish....

Agreed. The Emerald Catfish will not do well with salt either as they are also part of the cory family.

He's been living in freshwater since he was born... and hence "safe amount of salt" I don't put to much that it'll hurt the cory or any other fish.... and I'm not planning at the very last minute to just throw the america catfish in another tank when he's out grown that tank... I'm very carful with all my fish... I love them so much

I think it is quite clear the fish are incompatible, and have been since you have had them. Adding plain salt to a tank does not make it brackish. In order to make it brackish, you will kill the cories. In order to keep the cories alive, the cat will have to suffer.

overall and in general.... I know how to take care of my fish....yea.. I know when they're young they live in freshwater then when they get older convert them into brackish.. but at the moment.. he's freshwater... and they get 12-14 inches long and may get to 20 inches long...like I said.. I do lots of re-search before I even think about buying any more fish and the origianl question was....do you think i can get 2-3 black spotted barbs in this tank or 2 gouramis?
