Oh dear, had to evict one of my dalmation mollies for being a bully boy.

I thought these guys were supposed to be peaceful but he has been hounding one of my other mollies so badly he had to go. The one getting bullied is also a male, and the bully boy wouldn't let him out of his hiding place for even 1 second!

He has been hiding in my bushy plant, and as soon as he comes out, the bully has chased him back into hiding and has even guarded the area so he can't come out.

I took him back to a good LFS shop though and the poor guy getting bullied is happily charging around the tank enjoying his freedom.

I know I did the right thing but still feel bad takiing him from his nice big planted tank to go back to a little one until he gets sold on. Hopefully he will learn a valuable lesson! :/

Anyone else had a problem with bully mollies or was this just a rogue one?

I had exactly the same prob with a male platy - if its any comfort I took the same course of action as you

Ok, don't feel so bad now - especially as the molly looks almost relieved to be able to swim around again!

:D

i had a problem with a female swordtail in my daughters 55ltr tank, she kept really having a go at a smaller female platy,so now shes in the 180ltr main tank with the big boys and girls shes no longer top fish  .
also i had to rehome a male platy because he only had eyes for one female, she was being harrased so much i found him a new home. all the best with your now happy tank donna :) .

Glad to know I'm not the only one! Still pretty new to fishkeeping,

Looking at my happy mollie now I know I did the right thing.

Thanks for making me feel loads better about the eviction!
