Hi There,
I wander if anyone can help. I have a 50 gallon tank for about 10 months and i did have a stock of harlequins (7), 2 dwarf gouramis, 2 silver tipped shark, 5 tetras and 4 angels.
I last bought a large angel and 2 med sized several weeks apart.
I have a UV filter due to algae problems (tank is in light)
My water test are all good
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
Nitrates 5-10
ph 7.0
The two dwarf gourami died with nasty ulcers. I turned off the UV filter and treated with usual meds. However now all my fish are slowly dying. It seesm to be breed specific though as my black tipped tetra seem fine.
If all my stock do die any advice for the tank with regards cleaning etc
Thanks

Sounds like your gouramis had dwarf gourami disease. As for the rest of your fish, are you sure they aren't being attacked by your black tip sharks, aka columbian shark cats?

No i have watched the tank at night.
Now all rasboras have died by big angel has died and my sharks

So far i have two angels which seem happy and 5 black tipped tetra which also seem happy plus 3 blue neons.
I think problems started shortly after introducing 2 new angels which i think had some sort of disease which they were immune to.
Has anybody had experince with using a UV filter reducing immunity in fish?
Thanks

It is possible that because you are running a UV filter, the fish that were already in the tank had no immunity to a disease the new fish could have brought in. That is one of the dangers of using UV filters.

Yes i think you are right. The lady in the lps said that and suggested to only run the UV filter periodically. That is the only thing that could have happened as water quality etc is spot on. Whats interesting is the two angels which i think bought in something are quite happy.
cheers
