Hi just a question I have been losing my livebearers. All the water tests are fine. I am treating trying to figure out what it could be the main symptom is fast breathing, gills going very fast, They are healthy one minute then start breathing rapidly, lose their balance and die. This happens very fast and they die within 24 hours. This affects maybe one fish a week. I have treated for internal bacteria and parasites but am wondering what cpould be on their gills because they flick their gills. If it is not flukes or parasites could it be velvet would that get on their gills and cause them to die quickly. Shoul I try protozin? One of my guppies has just started showing signs of velvet on her back could this be the cause or could it be fungal so should I use myxazin. Please help I haveexpensive fish I don't want to lose.

Have air stone in tank, have an undergravel filter running by power head also drawing in air and have an external filter tank hilds 37 gallons

tank well established over a year have many plants. It is something that affects their gills but have treated for parasites using wormer plus and also tried anti internal bacteria as a few also had dropsy but don't want to flood the tank with chemicals also put about 1 tablespoon of salt per 4 gallons

Need to look at your water stats.

Velvet signs are yellow golden spots, gold dusting on a fish, rusty coloured varnish on a fish, or the fish will look like it been sprinkled in a talc dusting.

Are the gills red and inflamed.
Do the gills look pale with excess slime.
