Hi,

Over the past week, I have lost 2 otos, 1 peppered cory, 1 guppy and 2 neons in my 180l 2 year old tank. I did my weekly clean and water change at the weekend as usual. My stats are:-

PH 7.2
Temp 77oF
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrate = 5ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm

Yet I just can't understand why I've lost so much fish altogether. The neons were getting old and was originally in my old tank so I've had them about 3 years and the cory originally belonged to my dad and was about 12 - 18 months old. All the others in the tank seem ok, everyone feeding ok and quite "normal" acting. I have 3 other otos, 4 cories, 2 guppies and 9 other neons and they all seem to be ok.

The only thing I can put it down to was a few months ago my gold gourami had a "mad half hour" and killed one of my head and tail light tetras zooming around the tank however she sometimes does the same now but has not killed anything since so I took it the tetra just got in the wrong place at the wrong time and didn't move fast enough. It seems strange if she's done the same this time, but with so many diffirent fish - I've not seen her do this time either so it is probably while I am at work or at night if that is the problem - though I'm not too convinced to blame the gourami as yet!!!!

Any ideas????

Do any fish looked bloated or thin, even bent spines.
Guppys are carries of camallanous worms.
The anus can be enlarged or red and inflamed.
Any fish pooing long stringy white poo.
