need some advice guys, 1 of my rainbow(red)fish, has had 2 small red marks on its body since i got it about a month ago, but ive just noticed they have got bigger and stick out from the body, still red looking, almost like blood, ive put it in my 'hospital' tank , but im at a loss what this could be, all the medicine i have dont seem to mention any of these symptoms, any idea what this could be? Also i have another rainbow fish (yellow) one, that has been fading in colour, ive also moved that to the hospital tank, and by doing this i think i may have just finished it off, its laying on its side and breathing very fast, doubt its gona be here in the morning, totally different symptoms to each other, so even more confused now. all my other fish seem fine, with no problems.

I need to ask some questions?

How many gallons or litres is the tank?
How many fish and which type?
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph?

Do the marks look like blood spots?
Any red streaking on body, fins?
Are any of your fish flicking and rubbing on objects in the tank?
Do any of your fish dart around the tank, or sign of erratic swimming?
Any excess mucas on body, gills, fins?
Do the gills look pale, or red and inflamed, or gills look like there bleeding?
Do the fish look pale, or darker in colour?

180L Rio tank, ammonia is 0, nitrite 0 nitrate 50,

ive got :
2x red rainbow
2x yellow rainbow
6x silver tip tetras
2x dwarf guaramis
2x angel fish (small)
3x red platys

Are any of your fish flicking and rubbing on objects in the tank? NO
Do any of your fish dart around the tank, or sign of erratic swimming? NO

It sounds like septicemia. Blood spots.
Septicemia hard to sure once is advances. Also the bacteria from the fish can leak into the tank water. Also gain entry throw cuts and wounds.

Maracyn Plus. The medication will knock your good bacteria in your filter.

Or medicated food if the fish is still eating.

Ok so the fish with blood spots on is still the same, acting normally etc, the other fish that i thought would be dead today, is still with us, but still doesnt look good, now i can see his tail at the back looks like its been nipped, but i know it hasnt, so presuming this is finrot grrrr... problem ive got now is,ive got both the ill fish in 1 tank, and i am currently treating the fish with red spots on with some medicine, but i now need to treat the 'dying' fish with fin rot....i cant do both in same tank can i? any suggestions, meanwhile in my big tank all the other fish look fine, no sports no fin rot etc, am i likely to get a problem in that tank? or would it of showed in other fish by now?

What is the brand name of the med you are using?

Main Tank.
Daily water changes.

Anti internal bacteria med? Only effective for mild bacteria infections only.

You can still use the same med on finrot. But if it a really severe case of bacterial finrot the medication might not be effective. Same for the septicemia.
