I dont know what else to recommend this is a terrible situation to be in :( I hope it all works out for you in the long run.

Sounds like your taking a bad time at the moment, but stay strong it will all work out in the end :(

Hes not a drug addict you know. :) well, he might be :D

a 90% water change should deffinately help, consider doing a few 50% changes throughout the week also.

Your fish must be swimming in almost pure tap water by now so my best guess is still some past incident or you may have just been unlucky and bought some weak stock. You my be best off just riding it out and keeping up the water changes, it`s nigh on impossible to diagnose fish disease or death when there are no symptoms

Now My last Elder Guppy has died, i took some more water to a fish shop for the 4 time a differnt one this time and was all ok.
so no idea will just have to wit for them all to dye now and start again.

1 other thing i was going to ask, when you do water changes can you use RO water rather than tap water and aqua safe ?

I was going to ask if you used water treatment to dechlorinate the water with all your water changes. I'd use Seachem Prime or Stress Coat to be sure you're getting at any ammonia in your tap water. I don't know what RO water is (bottled?) but you need to use tap water with treatment so the fish can take advantage of the good chemicals.

Where is your tank located?

Is it possible there are contaminants getting in the tank, such as hair spray? Paint fumes? Spray deodorizer?

i used the above link to help diagnose the problem i have just had with a 60l. still learning all this fishy stuff. Was the same as you all of a sudden lost a fish overnight after doing a water change then before i figured out what was happening it was too late. thankfully at the moment. my platys, guppies and bristle nose are ok.

Ended up wiping out my cardinals with white spot and a simultaneous nitrite spike.

RO water is alright, but you wouldnt want to use RO and only RO as it has all the heavy metals removed, some of which your fishies do need. The suggestion would be to buy a 25Litre jerry can and get it filled up by your local shop then use it for a water change and do 50% RO and 50% tap to find a happy balance.

But, that said, its a little overkill.

Just Lost a Glass cat fish now was actually watching it swim about then 2 mins later was on botom of tank dead
so have lost 4 today.

The Tank is in the front room and nothing has changed in the last 4 months i have had it.

i will take a look at those links.

i was just wondering about RO water, but i use tap and Aqua Safe tetra which has been ok

i think now in last week or so i have lost 11 fish
im going to put the remaing fish in another container and drain water completly out of tank and fill it up as qucik as poss then put fish back in
thats all i can think of doing

Mark
Thanks for all replys

would plumbing in a UV steriliser help here at all? That way if there's any bio nasties in the water / being put out by a fish they'll get nuked? I know that normally this forum doesn't go for UV as having the fish swimming in a sterile environment makes them weaker to infections when something does get through (the too clean theory) however in this case it seems to me that a sterile environment is just what is needed. They way at least if they keep dying it "has" to be chemical or electrical.
