Firstly sorry to hear about the losses, but could you tell me how many fish you have/had in your 15 gallon and if possible water quality (i.e. pH, ammonia levels, nitrites etc).

Name all of the fish, have you tested you water? If not you need to do that, did you cycle your tank? If so, how?

cycle????,i still have 8 in all, water changers as the shop tells me to do,i had a issue with amonia but done 3 water changers since,it keeps biting the fins of all the other fish

1 sucker,2 large silver dollers,3 mollys,1 neon,15 gallons tank

and 2 gold geramis

You said you had an otto which a lot of people find that they do die easily. The 2 large silver dollars are way too big for that size tank and it could well be that the gouramis as well as the other fish need more space. If a gourami feels threatened in its terroritry it will be aggresive, if you have 2 male gouramis they will be very aggresive towards each other. Your main problem is size of tank, your fish are getting stressed!

I don't think he had an Oto, he said "oter" fish
I think he meant other fish.

Since you haven't cycled your tank, you should really be doing several large water changes each week. Get yourself a liquid testing kit such as an API Liquid Master test kit or Nutrafin or Salifert. You'll find that those of us who have been on this forum a while don't trust a word the LFS (local fish shop) people say. Their only goal is to make money. Our only goal is to make sure your fish are healthy and happy.

And rehome your gouramis. They need much more room than you can give them, I'm afraid. And either rehome the neon or get 10 more. They really need to be in larger shoals. Same with the mollies. I don't know about the silver dollars.

Since his tank has been running for 10 weeks, he could of gone through a fish in cycle, hence the fish death?

It's possible, and I did think of that, but I'm just worried that he's been following the advice of the LFS.

After all, they're probably the ones that OK'd the stocking he has. *gulp*

Good morning and welcome to the forum! :good: Don't let us scare you off by talking about things you don't understand. It's not as difficult as it sounds. We tend to forget that we were all beginners at one time. And most lfs don't tell you about cycling your filter.

thanks for all the welcomes, had my water checked to day and all is good ,so how long do i wait till next water changed?
