My tank is six months old 160 ltrs with

8five strip barb
5black tetra
5 dwarf gormi
6 golden barbs
1 red tailed shark

I did have
3 honey gormi
5 lampeyes

about three weeks a or the gormi died within 3 days of each other then the lampeyes died within 4 days of each other a week later now a golden barb has died.

The is no sign of disease no spots, fungus'pop eye, velvet diease or anything else to be seen.

Tank temp 25 no amonia low nitrite and nitrate (checked by shop) Ph 7.5 hardness about 180

I,ve kept fishin the past so not a novice 'but at a loss to understand what is going on

Any help, ideas thoughts welcome

Thanks in advance

Hi, when you say low nitrite what were the actual readings as you dont want any of that, is the rtbs harassing the other fish? They can be ordipending on the fish quite aggressive if theres not much cover in the tank. Did you fish less cycle it when starting. Hope the deaths stop sooner rather than later.

The nitrite shouldnt be low it should be 0.

yep the nitrate registers as zero on the scale.

And was these readings all zero while you were losing fish. if so then that rules that out. When are the fish dying? I.e are they all dying at night or a mixture of times as that may tell you its the rtbs harassing fish in the night.

Nitr I te is poisonous to fish. Nitr A te is not, except in extremely high levels. Please have the LFS do another test, then write down exactly what the numbers are and post them here. It's the only way we can help.

While you're there, get yourself your own testing kit, API Master, Nutrafin or Salifert are all good.
