Fish & Cucumbers? I Had No Idea

I never realized how much tropical fish likes to eat cucumbers. I started putting slices into my 29 gallon to feed my Pleco. It's a fairly clean tank and hardly any algae grows in it (live plants maybe the cause of that). To my surprise my Mollies and Dwarf Gouramis devour the cucumbers with tenacity. I seems like they prefer it over the fish food i've been feeding them. I used to submerge the slices by placing them under something heavy. Now I just let it float and they attack it anyway. This is very good to know.

if you want the plecs to have it i would still weigh it down the fish will still pick at it

i have a bull dog pleco who lays and rolls in cucumber section when i put some in,he looks like hes in paradise when he face first!!

make sure to keep eye on the cucumber as twice ive had it get sucked onto filter pick up,makes a right mess!!

My Farlowella never liked cucumber, prefers zucchini

My Danios used to pick at the cucumber that I used to put in for my BN plec!! Very funny to watch considering that their mouths are on the top of their 'muzzles', so they used to do headstands trying to pick bit s off!!

Whether the cucumber floats or not, the Pleco still goes for it. It's a sight watching this creature that you normally see in caverns or stuck to the glass upside down at the surface of the water.
