Is this possible, are you able to send these in the post?

If so;

What are the DO'S and DONT'S when posting these things.

What do you need to do?

What will you need?

Anything Else I need to know?

Im not planning on doing this - I am just looking for information in every area possible.

Yes you are able to send all livestock in the post it does come with risks.

Delivery should be before 1pm the next day
If sending further then possible with next day delivery then an oxygen tablet should be added and the packaging should be able to accomodate more intial air then usual
Livestock should be double wrapped in plastic bags
Polystyrene or newspaper/kitchen towel should be used as insulation
If the air temp is above the mid range for the livestock then a cold pack should be added and the opposite if its too cold. In the UK around this time of year its normally fine to ship with just insulation with no temperature packs added
Label the box with a top side up arrow.
Don't put excessive numbers of fish in one bag use multiple bags as there is a higher chance of survival.
Some people like to starve their livestock 1-2 days before sending so that there digestive system is empty reducing the amount of ammonia likely to occur in the bag.

You would use royal mail special delivery next day by 1pm

check it out

Royal mail

When I send shrimps I usually put some plants or wool mop in the tank for the shrimp to cling onto, it causes less stress for them.

Also, shrimp and crabs should be shipped with a bit of filter wool or plant for them to cling on to :good:.

Although it is posible and usually safe - Please remember that it is not striclty "Allowed" by the royal mail. I believe ther is some kind of mention in the terms and conditions of using their service.

..trying to be vague here..... you cannot send livestock / living things through the post - they will not be shipped due to breach of terms and conditions.

You can however send small and fragile items/things through the post as long as the items are well packed and insulated against heat/cold or damage. Be sure to label as fragile so that the carrier knows the item must be handled with a little more care and not stacked up on things.

So dont try and post fully grown catfish or any livestock! But small fragile items can be posted successfully.

hope you understand this e-mail.
