Fish Compatibility (types Of Tetras)

Cardinal Tetra x 20
Glowlight Tetra x 8
Dwarf Neon Rainbow x 6
Red Phantom Tetra x 6
Cory x 6

That sounds like a great combo...can't comment on the pencilfish as I have no experience of them personally :D

As far as algae eaters are concerned otocinclus are good...tiny but lovely little fish. How about some shrimp? They do a grand job of cleaning as well :D

Make sure your tank has been well cycled before you add the corys and if you want to go down the rams path make sure you have water soft enough for their requirements else you won't keep them for long :(

I've read this several times on this forum. I actualy cycled my tank with cories and fought through a bout of ich (killed my cardinal tetras) and columnaris (killed 1 Serpae Tetra). Through all of this my cories swam about like nothing was going on. I guess I was lucky. Ofcourse I know much better now. Anyway they are great fish.

If you like the look of the rams, why don't you try a pair of kribensis cichlids? They are not as fuzzy with their water quality as the rams, and can tolerate also harder water (very important in my area!). For the rest: nice choice! Good luck with the set-up!

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there anything I really need to know about kribensis cichlids?

Now I need to get thinking bout how I am going to scape this tank. Reckon I'll go the sand route to start.

Hmmm, apparently those Kribs don't mix with Corys...

"Avoid tank mates that will need to share the bottom portion of the tank with these somewhat territorial fish, especially Corydoras."

I'll just concentrate on establishing a decent Tetra tank first, then think about something to add later on.
