What kinds of fish can go with - 2 upside down catfish, 1 bronze
catfish, pair of cherry barbs, pair of rummynose tetras?
Also for a 20 gallon tank how many more fish can go in the tank with the fish above?
Thanks :D

What kind of fish do you like?

I'd say that you could add 4 more rummy noses and 2 more barbs, 2 more cories (Bronze catfish) and have a little room left over for a single small-medium sized fish :)

I like angels, livebearers and neons. I dont have these fish at the moment but I "may" be getting this tank and it comes with fish... I am still debating on it... ;) But your saying I can only add one more fish?

You can't have angels with neons as they eat them, but i'd raise your bronze cory population to 4 or 5 as they do much better in shoals this size or larger.

But with the fish I mentioned above can mollies, platies, guppys and angels go with them? And how many more fish can go in the 20 gal tank?
Thanks :D

I'd certainly add at least 4 to 6 more rummynoses to make a shoal for these shoaling fish. I'd also agree with adding a couple of more cories for a similar reason. The bigger the shoal the braver the fish - it will increase activity too.

Even with these increases you have room for something else, perhaps a slightly larger centerpiece fish, or another group of smaller fish. An angel will work, but will outgrow the tank eventually. Perhaps a gourami, or a group of tetra's since you have no mid dwellers.

Rummynose Tetras like to be in groups of at least five. If your Bronze Catfish is a Cory, he'd appreciate a few buddies, as well. If I remember correctly, USD Cats like to be in groups of at least three or four, but double check that.

Neons and Angels can sometimes be kept together, especially if the Angel has been with Neons since it was little. In the wild, Neons are Angel food.

Whether or not you'll be able to "properly" keep more fish in there depends on how much filtration you have, how often you do water changes, and other such things.

You ought to be able to get a few livebearers in there, some Neons, or maybe an Angel (or two?).

I just got an adorable little Angel tonight  I'll have to take pictures of him tomorrow :)

Edited to add: Just saw your new post, Mariah. Mollies prefer salt in their water, so you'd be better off not adding Mollies. As a general rule, catfish don't do well with salt. Platies, Guppies, or Swordtails should be fine. There isn't a set number of how many more fish you'll be able to put in there. As I mentioned above, the number of fish you can add depends on filtration, frequency of water changes, etc.

lixard - I thought all livebearers like salt? Do mollys defentally need the salt or is it just a extra precaution?
Also arent the cherry barbs semi aggressive? And what about the rummynose tetras? I wouldnt want them attacking my pretty angels and guppies.

Oh and please post pics of your angel :*

Mollies don't need salt, but a few people do like to add salt in their tanks for them. Definetely add some more cories and rummies though. MY cories didn't even act right till I had four.

Im sorry im new to this. When you say "cories" do you mean "the catfish"?

Yes, "cories" is short for Coryadoras, which are the genus of a group of catfish. It's frequently also shortened to Cory Cats.

Thank you kiarra :D
Do the catfish, barbs and tetras (mentioned above in orginal post) get along with all other fish?
Thanks :D

Don't know on compatibility, but I do know that the Bronze Catfish (likely a Coryadoras Catfish) would appreciate being kept in a group of at least three, and the Barbs and Tetras should be kept in at least groups of 5-6 of their own species. They feel safer that way, and are less prone to illness due to stress. It's better for their health and sanity overall.

As a general rule I'd agree, but , I would like to add that if Angels from a small age are brought up with tetras they don't usually eat them.

I had three cory pandas thought I'd add a number to their shoal and it didn't seem to ever become part of the goup, it still remains apart. My suggestion is they go well in threes, sixes, nines etc
