Hi all,

I just introduced 5 zebra/leopard danios into my 30gal tank stocked with 6 WCMM and shrimp, instantly the Danios began to bully the WCMM, In due course I plan to increase both schools to 10 fish each just wondered which to do first, will buying more Zebra Danios move agression between themselves or will boosting WCMM numbers mean they are a little more brave.

Thanks
Dan

Get the extra danios. The more you have in a shoal, the more inclined they are to keep any aggression within the group.

As above, I would be inclined to get another 3-5 of the same danio species, I would do it ASAP and be ready to test and change water as and when required while the bacterial colonies catch up.

This is very typical behaviour, so many social fish can become very anti-social in small numbers.

Thanks the only reason I started with 5 was to slowly build my filter up, will get some more Danios in the next couple of days, I am testing water daily already since I added new fish so shouldn't be much of a problem,
Dan

Also increasing the number may not work as the danios are boisterous fish and it is natural for them to go after colorful fish. the minnows flashing there colour around the tank may be irresistible for the danio. i am saying from experiences

They are in a 30 gal long which is well planted with boxwood and a cave
