I have just ordered my first ever fish online - 6 x lake kutubu Rainbowfish, along with a Bamboo Shrimp.

I have read differing opinions on adding them to the tank, I normally float the bag adding tank water at regular intervals but some sites say due to the stress they will of suffered during shipping they should be added to the tank straightaway.

What does everyone else do?

also I am using SweetKnowle aquatics any one used them before?

Thanks

Mitch

I have bought a fair few fish through the internet. Mostly through Kesgrave's Ebay shop. I always float the open bag and slowly drip acclimatise them. People saying you should put them in straight away due to stress? Hmm, by adding them straight away they won't have time to acclimatise to the differing PH which would give them a massive shock on top of the stress from postage, I wouldn't personally use this method.
On another note, when they arrive I open the box in a room with the curtains drawn so that it is nice and dim and leave it for 5 mins so they can adjust to the natural light. Never had an 'internet' fish die on me yet and they all settled in very fast. My DP's were happily munching on a blood worm within a few mins of being in the tank. Hope this helps!

I float the bag(s) in the tank for 30 minutes with all the lights off in the tank, then open the bag(s) and add some water out the tank in to the bag(s) and leave them for another 10 minutes. The catch the fish with a small net and add them to the tank.

You will find everyone does it a little different but as long as you get the water in the bags up to the same temperature as the tank they will be fine, also by mixing the water in the bag with tank water will bring the ph close to the same level as in the tank.
