hey guy's dont know wether or not to worry,

this is the first time i've seen the fish do this:

they are all at the top, i have just fed them, but never seen them do this, like there poss gasping for air,

i recently changed the scape of the tank allowing alot more room to swim, and open water up top.

yesterday i did a water change abot 35-40 %

used small ammounts of dechlorinator, but i cleaned my filter for the first time, in tank water just gave eveything a rinse.

for now i have just added an air stone to se if it helps,

any ideas.

jake

ps tank is co2 and ei dosing, wether the plants are starting to grow yet due to the change round mite of effected it

cheers

How big is the tank, and how many/what kinds of fish?
Sounds like maybe there's too much CO2... have you tried turning it off a while to see if that helps?

what food did u add and how much......when you cleaned out the filter u didnt use your hous tap to wash it did you?! you might have wiped out the filter bacteria !

tank is 55 gal

thank has been just fine, the co2 is pressurised. on a timer cut off.

the filter was washed in tank water only.

food wise gave them the usual pinch.

fish wise

2 honey gouramis
i siamese
i alge eater
5 rasboras
1 platty
8 neons
1 angels
2 clown loaches

no idea really.

Need to look at your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, might over overdone the filter sponges.
Increase aeration in the tank.

yeah checked all the stats, they seem fine,

only thing i can put it down to may be the fact that with me uprooting and removing a few of the quicker growers its taken out some of the oxygen content.

but true it could be the filter too as a gave them a good rinse through,

lesson for everyone, if its going ok leave it.

just dont want to stress the fish out or kill them, i had the large airstone on for 4hrs last night then off through the night and i have put it back on for the day while im at work, i have kept up with the ei dosing too.

im in two minds wether to convert to chilchids but the mrs likes our fish, but i'd rather take um back if im distressing them

jake

When you say you used small amounts of dechlorinator, did you use the amount stated for the fresh water you put in the tank?. Don't skimp on dechlor - use the amount needed.
