Hey Everybody.

I've been on this for quite a while but Haven't posted much.
I'm just starting to work for my Dad earning money and I would love to start something up with the money I'm earning.

I was just wandering really, what would be the best sized tank to get (I've been told bigger is better by someone and I was just wondering your views) and also what Fish and plants are best for newcomers. I prefer Tropical stuff and heavily planted tanks so I was just thinking of the views of some expereinced fish people.

Look forward to getting to know everyone here :) x

The best tank size IMO is around 30 US gallons.

Here is a link to very easy and easy aquarium plants.

There are lots of good beginner fish out there, you really need to narrow your potions fown a bit. Community, species, peaceful, aggressive...?

I would advise getting the largest set up that you can afford and have space for.

This is because firstly, it is easier to manage a large tank successfully as the greater quantity of water is more forgiving if things go a little wrong and secondly, if you start out small then you are bound to want to upgrade later costing more overall. (unless you can keep both tanks :shifty: )

When you get your first tank then i strongly suggest that you do a 'fishless cycle'. That completed (4-6weeks) then start off with something like Platys (there are literally hundreds of colour variations and they are hardy)

For details on the fishless cycle system please read..........THIS

See you again sometime and......... :hi: :hi: :hi:
