At the moment i have 5 pacific blue eyes in a 18litre tank and they dont breed, Could be, not enough light, no heater or other things. I have a 61 litre tank spare that will be heated and will get more light that i want to put them in. I also want to breed a couple of yabbies in there. Will that b ok?? I also want to put a small tandanus cat and a small sleepy cod in. I know that the sleepy cod and cat will eat some of the young fish and crays but i should be moving the blue-eye eggs and there should b enough crays to survive. I just need to know if the crays will eat sleepy or cat or blue eye eggs.

Thanks, John

18 litres is only like 5 gallons - way to small for those fish and breeding them. The same applies to the 15 gallon which probably cannot hold all those fish - especialy if you want to breed them all. You could just move the blue-eyes to the 15 gallon and breed those there. As for the other fish - I have no clue as to what they are. Are those the common names? Could you tell me what they are and possibly the scientific names? Are they all tropical? What sizes do they get to? If when you say 'cray' you are reffering to crayfish - they will eat the eggs and the fish.

I have kept crayfish with fish for a long time and have had no problems. I just need to know if they will eat the eggs. And the 15 gal is just for breeding , not rearing the young, They will be taken out asap. And for the others, tandanus catfish and sleepy cod(gudgeon) its just to let them grow a little so i can introduce them into my 3ft tank.

Well in that case can you move the crays to the 5 and breed the fish alone in the 15? I think the crayfish would eat the eggs and you'd also need to wait until after breeding to add those other fish into their temporary home as they'd likely snack on the eggs as well.
