First Tropical Fish

I got the tank! It's sooo cool! I've got live plants in it and some cool slabs of rock with a couple of holes about three" across through each one. I got it yetserday. altogether it cost me £265 It's worth it though! can't wait to put the fish in it!


I did think about corys, I was gonna get some bronze ones but I don't have the room to have those with everything else I want.

I just did a chemical test on my (uncycled) tank water and here are the results:
PH- 7.5
Ammonia- 0mg/l
Nitrite- 0mg/l
Nitrate- 5mg/l

I got three highfin platy the other day, they'r kool! the lfs person told me that she thought that they were all female . how do you check whether theyr male or female? they all look kinda the same size, its a little hard to tell. though i'm pretty sure one of them is a bit smaller. (s)he's the more brightly coloured one so I think that it's possible but I need help. Thanks

PS ones bright yellow with black fins and the others are both solid orange-red. They'r called jaws (yellow), spike (orange), and Larry (orange), jaws has a big fin, spike has a spike and Larry is a kl name.

Look at the anal fin. Females have a rounded fan-shaped fin, while males have a sort of rod.
