Ok so I only see three fry that are alive. I noticed them this morning so I think the parents may have eaten some of the fry but I don't know what I should feed them I was lead to believe that they were all female platy but that wasn't so. I moved the adults out and have the babies in a separate bowl but I'd really love advice on how to take care of them and raise them into adulthood.

They could've been already pregnant if they'd been in with a male before you got them.
They'll need a heater, & regular water changes if you have no filter in their tank.
You can get special fry food, but if you crush ordinary flakes very fine, they will eat those

ok so what kind of heater would work because they're in a regular glass bowl right now because I moved the adults in their to clean my 3.5 gallon tank

Alright if you want to keep the fry your better off getting a floating trap and putting the fry in it (aka breeding trap). This will allow your fish to grow with out being eaten by their parents. You can feed them with the same food that you feed your adults with just grind it up into smaller flakes with your hands so their able to eat it. You can feed them 1-2 times a day because it helps them grow faster. Also instead of the 1 water change a week that you should do I would do 2 a week, I have done this and find that the fry grow considerable faster and less of them die. Fish are animals where the majority die when their young in fry form ( that's why so many fry are born, this allows some to make it through so theirs enough fish in the world).

You can find a floating/ breeding trap at your local fish store such as petco or petsmarts.

And welcome to the forums!! :hyper: :hyper: :good: :good: :good:

hi im liquid

platy fry are easy to care for u will need fry food powdered or liquid for these guys they will need a heater and a spounge filter then ull need an air pump to run the sponge filter u will need to do daily water changes to keep water healthy they also need light to grow and bushy real plant to hide in so not to get stressed anything else

or as suggested the breeder trap :)

So how many weeks before I could add them back in with the adults??

I've put fry back with the adults at about 4/5 weeks.
They may get chased for a bit, but if you have enough plants the adults will soon give up chasing them

Awesome thank you for your helpfullness

Any light will do, but they do need it for development.
I've never had any sucked into the filter, but if the flow s too strong it's a possibility.
I forget who it was that said that if fry have survived, the adults kinda get used to them being there, & the survival rate for subsequent drops is higher
