Hi all im new to the forum.

set this tank up a few weeks ago. just added most of the fish today. although i had 3 cherry barbs in there to cycle it first.

(excuse the reflections in the glass - its the TV :p )

this was the best pic i could get of the barbs. they swim around so fast.

this is a first time planted set up, all opinions welcome :) current tank inhabitants listed in sig.

Is that pinky coloured plant definitely a true aquatic plant? I had one like that but I was a bit dubious about it. Chucked it out because it just rotted.

thanks!

yeah about the pink plant - i was hoping someone would ID it for me. it was bought from maidenhead aquatics so i presumed it was. the tips of te leaves are however starting to die. the pink looks like someone has drawn all over it with a pink felt tip pen. anyone got any ideas?

since i took those pics the spikey bushy plant at the back has started to grow forwards more so i will be removing the little seaweedy plant next to the bogwood and adding a small piece of bogwood with moss growing on it for it to spread :)

I think it looks fab! Enough going on in there to make it look interesting and not over done! :)

Well done!

I thinkl it is awsome. I love it myself. I would loved for my first plante tank to look that good. Great job.., :D

I would remove it (the pinky plant) and try and grow it in a plant pot :D. Unless of course it is an aquatic plant but I seriously doubt it.

The pink one is a cordyline and a house plant. I would pull it out before it rots and fouls the tank. I ereally dont understand why pet shops sell non aquatic plants. Theres enough lovely ones already. Maybe its so they can charge more for it?

lol thanks! yes we are going to remove it tomorrow as it is starting to go quite brown! and we are going to move the seaweedy looking plant to the back corner and move the amazon forward slightly. if it looks to cluttered we'll just buy a new plant! :D do you have any recommendations?

shame that pink one isnt an aquatic. its very pretty. i think i just got it BECAUSE it was pink :*) im a sucker like that.

Your tank is beautiful, but on the first picture is that a reflection of family fortunes in the top left corner? lol  correct me if im wrong.

Again, lovely tank though!
