Hey guys i just put in my first fish in, i have got 6 neons tetra's. I also have 1 bristle nose in there. It is a 34g planted tank B) . I am thinking of putting maybe a school of 4 Cardinal Tetra in next. What do you guys think??? any advice? any recommendations?

:/ I don't want to put a dampner on things, but as this is such a new tank, I'm afraid they might just keel over and die. These fish are such delicate little things and really don't do well at all (in general) in new tanks. At this point I won't add any cardinal either until you really know how well the neons are doing.

Actually, I'd leave it a while too... I have neons, and they were the first fish I put in my tank, and they are all still doing fine (12 months later)... however, EVERY comment on this is that you should wait 6 months before adding neons, so would assume I just got lucky.Sorry to put such a dampener on things.
How long has your tank been set up for?

Well the filter is has been running for about 8-9 months, and the new tank setup has been running for about 4 weeks now, but like i said the filter is a mature.

Personally (and from my experience with these fish) I'd wait until the actual tank is more mature - not just the filter. You could just get lucky, but I'd not risk it.

Just wait and see how it goes first. My 25g planted tank I put guppy as first fish after tank been set up for like 1 weeks then I switch to neon/cardinal after like 1 monthes or so. And now they seems very happy.

If I was you, I'd wait. Patience is a virtue and will pay off in the end

I reckon if you're filter has been going for 8 or 9 months then it should be safe to add more, slowly, particularly as the current fish have been in for 4 weeks. I thought you were meaning really had only just added the fish - e.g. couple of days ago. Sorry, know nothing about algae eaters though!!

Can i at least put in a algae eater??? biggrin.gif If so what's a good one huh.gif

The Bristlenose you already have is a great algae eater.

Personally I'd be inclined to stick a couple more fish in there as long as it was nothing too delicate.

rainbow fish they shoal well, and look good with the lights on.
Quite sturdy and peaceful. I've got five male, i might get a lady for them soon as a treat. :hyper:
