Fishaholic
I recently bought a couple of guppies for my newest tank, I have had them for 3 days now (I am new to owning guppies), and when I woke up today she had given birth already! She didnt even seem very big so I did not have her in the box thing with the V to save the fry. However I did manage to go fishing and catch 10 of the little guys (they are excellent at hiding!) The only fish in this tank is the female, a male, and 3 rummy nosed tetras. So i was pleased that 10 had made it that long. The fry are now in a breeding net, or fry net, whatever it is called and seem to be doing well. They do not seem to eat very much, although they do nibble away at the crushed flakes. Right now I am just feeding them crushed flakes, and "Fry Food" by Nutrafin...it is VERY fine, just a powder, can hardley see it when it is in the water.
My fry are very small, but as far as I know they are a normal size.
I have read it is normal for the female not to eat after she has dropped her fry, how long will this last?
Also, I have fed the fry several times today, and just siphon the extra food out with a little hose, very carefully of course. Do most fry usually survive, or should I expect losses?
Thanks for all the help and if you have any tips for me then let me know!
