First Fishy Death :(

I came in to check/count my fish... I counted them all fine.. but one... who i couldnt see... I found him hiding.

Earlier I saw my gourami go for him and didnt really know what to do as had nowhere to transfer him to.

about five minutes after I came back in, I found him floating at the bottom


He has been a bit weird today. he was the smallest of my fish.


for the last couple of days my levels have been fluctuating between Am 0 - .25 and nitrate has been dropping from 1 down to 0 today.

He had a rather big chunk of tail missing when I found him at peace with the world. other than today, I hadnt noticed him looking ill and none of the other fish seem ill in the tank. theyre all eating fine and everything.



on the other hand, my betta is in a new tank with no mirror... eating fine, swimming about and tank levels all very good.


What could I have done to avoid my guppie leaving this life? I feel so bad.

maybe the gourami was so distracted by the betta that it ignored the guppie until there was no more betta

Could simply be that "thats life" !!!! This sort of thing does happen without reason... its even tougher when you HAVE to kill a fish

Ammonia readings sound normal to me, its just the name of the game Im afraid...

it could have been the cycling tank that's got him, could have been the bullying gourami, most likley a combination of the two stressed him out and killed him.
