Please can you suggest breeds of small/medium sized community fish to add first to my aquarium once the cycle has completed or does the order not matter as the cycle is fishless. xx

most bread and butter fish excluding cardinal and neon tetras should be fine IME, other more fancy things may be worth asking about specificaly.
Danios, livebarers(excluding guppy), corries, most tetras alIME are fine for a newly cycled tank, and the first two are tough as old boots :good:
What did you have in mind?

Rabbut

A few of the tough a nails livebearers are platies and swords. If you have somewhat hard water and pH above 7.0, guppies can also be quite easy to keep. I do not keep the newest fancy guppies so maybe they have gone downhill by breeding for appearance instead of healthy fish. It does happen. Mollies are also easy to keep in hard high pH water but get a bit big for a small tank. You didn't mention how big it is so its hard to say exactly which of these fish will work. One of my personal favorites is endlers livebearers but they are a bit harder to find in the fish stores. For an example, see my avatar. They are quite small but are colorful and lively fish. Another nice group of fish are the corydoras catfish they are best kept in groups of 5 or more so it depends on your tank size whether you will be able to keep them. Most will only get to about 2 or 3 inches long.

At 240 litres there is no limit on the nice small fish you could keep. Basically anything under about 3 inches that get along with each other would work. With livebearers you could have 6 of a type, 2 males and 4 females. With the cory catfish you could get 6 of the same kind and not worry about them being the pygmy size because you have room for them. If you stick with fish that are less than 2 inches long in the body you could get enough fish to add up to about 60 or 70 inches of total length not counting their tails. Of course you would want to add the fish gradually, just a few at a time, to give your tank time to adjust to the new fish before adding any more. I agree with rabbut's suggestions as far as what the tougher fish are except that I would include guppies and rabbut does not. I have not gotten any for a few years so he may be more up to date on guppies.
