First Fish Selection?

I have read through a bunch of threads about what fish to select and I think I just got overwhelmed and very confused.

This is going to be my very first tank. I have selected a 29 gallon long tank and want to stock it with freshwater tropical fish. I am going to be using a variety of live and fake plants to start.

What would be a good selection of fish for a very nervous newbie?

Hardy beginners fish always have to include the more popular live bearers i.e. Guppies, platies, mollies and swords....... zebra Danios and black widows are also hardy. (don't forget to read up on your cycling).... Never thought I'd say that.

Thanks. That actually brings up another question. Is their a list of hardy fish around?
