Hi Guys

I woke up this morning to discover my first eggs in my aquarium,a slightly elongated sack of about 14 white eggs stuck to the glass on the front corner edge about half way up.

I'm assuming they must be snail/shrimp eggs? as I believe most of my fish are cave spawners?

I have BN's,Kribensis,Bolivian Rams,Emperor Tetras,Gold Barbs,Pearl Gouramis,Rosy Tetras

Now I know the BN's and Kribensis are definite cave spawners and the pearls build a bubble nest at the surface.

I have assassin snails which I know from the increased numbers must have spawned before although I've never seen any eggs before.

I have a couple of Apple snails but I read they leave their eggs above the water line.

I also have amano shrimp and some staghorn bee nerite snails.

Any hunges as to who my eggs may belong to?

Apple snails do indeed leave their eggs above the water line and they leave a lot more than 14 eggs in a bunch. They run into the hundreds of eggs for each laying. With your list of fish, my first guess would be common pond snails. If the sack you are talking about looks like a clear jelly, I would be almost certain of it.

I've not had any pond snails (that I know of) though since I got my assassins many months ago?

Whatever they were they have gone now, presumably eaten :(

Watching over breakfast nothing was bothering them but then I noticed an Amano shrimp on top, presumably trying to eat them up and managed to move it on but an hour or so later all the eggs have gone.

Its the first time I've seen a sack of eggs clearly visible in my tank the 9 months I've had it up and running so was quite excited.

I've not seen any pond snails and have not added any more live plants recently to introduce any.

Where do Assassins lay their eggs as I know I've had babies of those over the months as every so often I see some very titchy ones around that were definitely not amongst the 5 I started with.

I'm curious now but guess i'll never know for sure given they've gone
