First Discus Tank

Just one more thing, with regard to discus size. You say I should get adult discus. What size classes as adult. 4"? 5"? The reason I ask is with regard to cost, the larger fish cost much more, as im sure you know.
If I were to do 2 water changes a week, both around 30%, whats the smallest fish youd reccommend for that maintainence?

Adult fish are really around 12 months old, but most fish 5"+ will be around that or older, you can always ask your breeder for the age. I would say adults are fine with 50% w/c weekly or bi-weekly, but it depends on stocking and tank size, filtration too. I really wouldn't recommend smaller then 5 inches. Novice Discus keepers really should go for adults in all cases.

It seems like I am going to have to start saving up for adult fish then haha.
Is it 5" body size inc. tail or just the body?

Could I add them at different stages? Or would that mean quarentine for new arrivals?
