the plants have been planted for 2 weeks today and are about an inch from the top so by the middle/end of tommorow i surpose its going to be touching the surface.

ive read before that you shouldnt cut plants for at least 4 weeks after planting. any reasons and is it true or not as i was going to plant the cutting straight away so i wont be loosing any plant mass.

whats the best way to cut
1) rotala rotundifolia
2)hygrophila polysperma

i assume just pinch of to the level i want just above a leave?

thanks

I usually let them hit the surface and spread out a bit, then cut them.
Plant as you said.

cheers

i lied about them being about around an inch as they touched last night about an hour before light went off

thanks

People tend to advise leaving them four weeks to give them an opportunity to adapt to the tank. However if your plants are growing as fast as it sounds like they are growing there isn't anything wrong with pruning them early, the fact that they are growing like mad is an excellent sign. Just leave the ones that are doing less well for a bit longer. When you prune its not a case of doing the whole tank then leaving it another few weeks before doing them all again, you have to be selective and prune as and when its needed.

cheers

will be doing it tommorrow

about 3 seperate plants/buch of stems have grown about 10-12 inches within the last 2 weeks

mainly the last week so i surpose the roots are absorbing the nutriants(spelling) from the tropica aqua soil?

thanks
chris

Yeh the tropica substrate has been getting excellent reviews form those who've used it.
