Hi

Just joined the forums :)

I have a 75L tank with 3 Blue rams and a pleco. They have been in there a week now and doing well. Used to keep all sorts of fish but not for a few years.

My water PH is 7 is this Ok for the Rams?

Is 75L tank ok for three rams and a pleco? I realise the pleco will out grow the tank so plan to sell it on.

I have 2 females and a male. If they pair up could I get anoter male for the lonely female or is my tank to small for two pairs? There is drift wood and a few plants in there

:hi: TO THE FORUM First off rams should have an ideal PH of 6-6.5 and the more important water quality you need to worry about is the hardness. German blue rams need a KH of 3 or less. This can be achieved by putting peat into your filter. A 75lt should be good for one pair (1 male 1 female). so once your rams pair off get rid of one of the females. 2 pairs ideally need a 250lt or more. A tank for rams should have lots of plants but also some free swimming room. Good luck
P.S. You spelled cichlids wrong lol

Also not sure the pleco is a good idea long term, what species is it

thanks for the comments.

Its a spotted Pleco. I realise long term it will have to go as they grow massive!

Quality of the water is great but need to lewer the PH slightly so will use some peat moss (thanks mark2109111)

Looking to upgrade the tank in 6 months provding everything goes well so will just stick with the one pair of rams for now.

Will upload some pics tonight :)

Tbh pH of 7 is perfectly fine for rams imo, i've got a pH of 7 and i've got a ram that's perfectly fine.
Sure alot of other people on here have rams at alot higher then 6.5 too,
come to think of it i've never seen anyone post a test result of there pH been 6.5.

I have 6 rams at a ph of 7.6... Ph shouldn't be an issue, make sure you have a sand substrate, hiding places, and a temp at around 29c, you should be fine with 3 in your tank then!

I have 3 Rams and a discus with a ph at 7.0 they're all doing fine.

I know that discus usually like ph around 6.5 but the guy i got the discus from told me that it's the wild ones that like this ph and tank breed ones are fine with 7.0 so far he what he has said has proven true
