I have finally bought my betta fish, even though he is your typical petstore betta he is beautiful. I added him to my 5 gallon tank along with what was supposed to be three (the shop gave me four :p) endlers. However he flares at them, is this just because its a new tank?

Who went in first?
Could just be him guppies and Bettas are known for not playing nice I'm afraid are ur endlers lob or short finned?

It could be that he's just settling in.
I have endlers with one of mine & he flared at first but now ignores them.
Are they pure endlers or endler guppy cross as if they are long finned that could be a problem

Mine flared at the endelrs too when he had his first encounter with them. It is probably fine, just make sure that it isnt one of those guppie endler crosses, as they will cause a problem with the Betta because of there long flowing fins and bright colored tails.
Good luck with your new Betta!

He was introduced after the endlers and they are short finned. Not good news though, after going out for a little while i came back to find one endler dead and the other three in a corner together. He was flaring at them every time they came off the floor of the tank and even nipping at them. I have now moved the endlers to my community tank. I noticed slight ripping at the end of part of his tail so have added some stress coat, how long will it take to heal? Also he loooks very lonly in his tank, are there any other tank mates i could try?

I wouodnt get any more fish at all, because he sounds like one of those bettas that aren't compatible with any fish. If he will go after endlers, then he will go afte about everything's else, except maybe some snails :good:

okay thanks any reccomendations on tank ornaments to keep him entertained then? the tank looks so empty
