First Betta W/pics

Here's a pic of my first Betta. I've been out of the hobby (mainly goldfish) for quite a few years and decided to buy him. He's a male crowntail (I think). I named him "Wallace".

He's quite active and likes the grass area behind the filter tube. Take a look...

Here are a few more...

He's grown a bit within the week and his caudral tips are showing red. I also added a Kyoto plant. (If I should take this out, let me know.) He likes resting on the leaves but got wedged a few minutes ago.

I'm not too keen on the scary pirate skeleton, but your fish is absolutely gorgeous. You must be very proud.

I took out the skeleton a few days ago. He didn't go near the thing. I'm currently looking for 'crap' to sell back on ebay to buy a new tank.

That's interesting that the Betta wasn't keen on the skeleton. Mine has this urn. He swims in the middle hole, and out the other end. It gives him something to do, and a place to go if he wants to hide. Good luck with the eBay sales.

He was the best looking and most active one at Petco. He matches my car too- deep blue w/ red calipers. The blue w/red crowntail seems quite common at the chain pet stores.

Here's a video of him flaring. He thinks the airbubbles are his bubble nest. Vid is a little dark. He did this for about 10 minutes.



He was sick earlier this week with either a bacteria or fungus infection. I took out the live plants and cleaned everything well. He perked up and seems normal.

Wallace is a cutie! I like the video clip of him flaring - must be a crowntail thing! My crowntail, Cullen, flares at me every time I go to feed him (he also flares at the pellets too...) But my halfmoon, Flik, is a sweetheart and is more afraid of his reflection than anything else.
