My LFS (IMO the best round here) have had a large batch of what they are calling 'Firework Rasbora' for a while now.
The sign on the tank says that they are newly discovered and are yet to be categorised.
They are very small, a sort of pinky/red with tiny, colourful spots. Apparantly they get even more colourful when adult (3cm)
They say best kept in 6's and are priced @ £20 per 6.

Sorry I do not have a photo.

I am considering getting 6 for my fry tank to keep it 'alive' and to add interest.

Anybody else come accross/keep this variation?

Hi,
try googling celestial pearl danio and galaxy rasbora for more info. These fish are fairly common now, my crappy local fish place has then in at a quid each at the min, tank bred. I paid a fortune for mine when they first came in the shops.

Emma :)

Yes, just done that and saw a video from U-tube. Unfortunately, my LFS (which isn't 'crappy') seem expensive but I guess these fish are new to them so they will try it on for now! Maybe they will reduce the price after a while as they do seem to have had a large stock and for a while now. :shifty:

Those are very expensive prices, you can't import them but you can now find UK bred ones which are far cheaper than that, 6 for £20 is excessive, just keep looking you will find some I'm sure.

I started with 8 of them last year and when I sold my colony recently I had over 48 of them in my tank, so if they are that easy I'm sure in a very short time the price will drop accordingly.

Just been to a way out of town fish shop and they were selling for £3.40 each so the £20 for 6 in my LFS is seeming correct for round here.

As they have had a really large batch for some time now without many selling as I see it, I might wait a while for a special offer. :shifty: I can also watch their quality.

But then again I might say what the heck and get 6 anyways

i bought another 4 from my local tonight. these were tank breed though. they were 4 for £12 or 6 for £16 will see if these little tank breed fella's want to breed like the wilds.
